Xcel Energy has an opening for a Cathodic Protection Technician Thereafter located in Pueblo, Colorado. The Cathodic Protection Technician Thereafter is self-directed with independent decision-making responsibilities pertaining to the natural gas CP systems. The responsibility of this position is to preserve the integrity of the natural gas systems by minimizing the deterioration of buried steel pipeline systems through corrosion control engineering practices and in accordance with Federal, State and local rules and regulations. The position also requires the employee to evaluate leakage as well as initiate repair and/or replacement orders. Employee shall perform these responsibilities in a safe and innovative manner to ensure customer needs are met and value is added to the corporation. Due to the strategic importance of pipeline safety with regard to corrosion, the PUC and DOT require that personnel performing corrosion prevention work must have appropriate training (operator qualifications) and experience in the field and/or work under the direction of someone who has these credentials. The company requires that personnel performing cathodic protection work in this capacity be certified as a Cathodic Protection Technician-NACE International CP Level II.
