About The Position

We are currently seeking a Cathodic Protection Technician who will be based at our East Chicago, IN location. The overall objective of the Cathodic Protection Technician position is to maintain Linde cathodic protection systems along the pipeline and facilities. This person will be expected to apply corrosion prevention concepts and aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform corrective and preventative maintenance tasks on corrosion control equipment, including rectifiers, test stations, ground beds, and critical bonds. This person will be expected to work independently and make technical decisions and recommendations in the field.

Requirements

  • Must hold or successfully complete NACE Cathodic Protection Technician (CP level 2) within one year of hire.
  • Excellent communication and team interaction skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as lead/participate on teams.
  • Proven experience as a self-starter who effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with CFR 49, Parts 192, 193, and 195 preferred.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Proven experience in computers and standard software packages (MS Office, E-Mail etc.).
  • Ability to pass DOT drug screening as well as being subject to random testing throughout employment.
  • Ability to travel (15% of the time).

Nice To Haves

  • AMPP/NACE CP2 Certification.
  • Four or more years of experience with cathodic protection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Must have a basic understanding of cathodic protection principles.
  • Perform cathodic protection surveys and maintenance to ensure regulatory compliance on the Linde Pipelines and facilities mainly located in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Michigan and various other locations - 15% travel required.
  • Ability to operate testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot rectifier issues.
  • Perform pipeline locates and utilize the DigTix system.
  • Perform pipeline ROW (Right-of-Way) and aboveground piping inspections.
