About The Position

The Transporter-Echo position at KHI is responsible for the safe transport of patients within the hospital, specifically to and from the Echo and Cath Lab departments. This role involves assisting licensed nursing personnel with various patient care activities and related non-professional services. Additionally, the Transporter-Echo provides general clerical support to the Echo and Cath Lab department, including scheduling, communication with physician offices, patient demographic confirmation, benefit verification, and managing patient discharge processes. All tasks are expected to support KHI’s vision to be among the kindest, highest quality health systems in the country.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and apply theory to practice skills
  • Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, Teams, Meditech

Responsibilities

  • Safety transports patients in house, to and from the Echo and Cath Lab department via gurney or wheel chair prior to procedure and after procedure
  • Assists in transferring patients from bed to gurney or gurney to wheel chair and vice versa using proper body mechanics
  • Transport specimens and equipment and supplies needed
  • Assist licensed nursing personnel in the care of patients by performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services
  • Assists with orientation of new staff to the unit as requested
  • Responds to requests for transport in a pleasant, timely manner
  • Help keep the procedural area clean, neat and stocked
  • Provide general clerical support to the Echo and Cath Lab department which includes performing the duties of scheduling patient procedures, communicating effectively with Physician Services offices, staff, and cardiologists, and keeping appropriate parties abreast to potential issues/concerns regarding scheduling
  • Confirms patient demographic information, verification of benefits, scheduling and coordinating post discharge care for patients, collection of copays or payments, balancing of accounts, and general data entry
  • Preregister, register, schedule, reschedule, and discharge patients according to the defined guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of department and organization
