About The Position

The Cath Lab Technologist will be responsible for maintaining the safe operation of designated equipment and instruments. This includes setting up equipment prior to procedures, assisting in patient preparation, and ensuring accurate documentation of procedures utilizing the event log on the hemodynamic monitoring system. The technologist will also maintain power injection during procedures, monitor image acquisitions, and actively participate as a member of the cath lab team. Additionally, they will manage supply and inventory, ensure patient safety, report unusual occurrences, and participate in staff development and educational activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved ARRT Radiology technology program or approved and accredited Cardiovascular Technology program or equivalent.
  • Registered Radiology Technologist, RT (R) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, RCIS.
  • Working knowledge of x-ray equipment and ability to assist the physician.
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
  • Ability to correctly mark images ensuring accuracy of image identification.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures and ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Understanding of monitoring equipment, information system, emergency equipment, and department’s specific equipment.
  • Ability to think and move quickly to deliver quality and efficient patient care.
  • Skills and sensitivity to work well as a team member with physicians, patients, and co-workers.
  • BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS certification required within 90 days of entry into role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the power injection during procedure.
  • Maintain accurate monitoring of image acquisitions during procedure.
  • Perform as an active member of cath lab team in assisting with other duties.
  • Maintain Supply and Inventory Management.
  • Be responsible for Patient Safety.
  • Report all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in staff development and educational activities.
