Requirements

Applicants should have an associates degree from a Radiology Technology program (is required)
Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required within 90 days of hire.
Must have previously demonstrated expertise in solving technical problems, organizing work and communication effectively with patients, family, nurses, physician and other employees.

Bachelors degree education is preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks before, during and after cardiac catheterization and special procedures.
Primarily responsible for the care of patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
Responsible for assisting will all procedures providing patient education, assessment and monitoring, and participating in performance improvement activities.
Monitors hemodynamics, electrocardiograms, and waveform analysis.
Participates in Quality Assurance and practices infection control policies.
Assures appropriate orders are obtained and followed during the performance of all procedures.
Assists the cardiologist in invasive procedures including cardiac catheterization, coronary interventions, diagnostic peripheral cases, and peripheral angioplasty.
Assists physician in ICD insertions.
Insertion of temporary pacemakers, Swans-Ganz insertions, intra-aortic balloons, and implanting of permanent pacemakers.
Accepts assignment of call rotation.
Reviews patient history and physician's orders; verifies patient’s identification before performing any procedure.
Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
Prepares equipment and supplies; implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
