About The Position

The position involves assisting the physician with imaging during diagnosis and treatment of cardiac cath lab patients of diverse ages. The role ensures quality of imaging and image acquisition, DSA, and hemodynamic monitoring while adhering to radiation safety practices for patients and personnel. The candidate will be proficient with aseptic technique and assist the physician with scrubbing during procedures, as well as transport patients to and from the cath lab. Responsibilities also include applying manual pressure to puncture sites to obtain hemostasis following procedures, assisting with the technical utilization of physiologic monitoring/data devices in the cath lab, calibrating physiologic and monitoring devices, and preparing appropriate forms to document procedural data. The candidate will complete annual competencies and educational requirements, set up trays for procedures using sterile technique, and assist the physician during and after procedures.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology and ARRT registry, with a valid Iowa Radiology technologist permit to practice.
  • Graduate of Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification program or an Advanced medical training degree (Associate of Science degree or Associate’s degree in paramedic, or Allied Health Profession).
  • Two years of related experience required.
  • Basic Life Support required within 3 months of hire.
  • Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic EKG monitoring class preferred.
  • ACLS preferred required within 6 months of hire.
  • Mandatory Reporter required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities
