About The Position

At Palmetto General Hospital, the Cath Lab Technician plays a vital role in supporting our cardiologists and nursing staff during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This position ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care through technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong communication to patient safety.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or related healthcare field (Bachelor's preferred).
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • State of Florida licensure in Radiology Technology (if applicable).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital cardiac catheterization lab or interventional radiology setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics.
  • Proficiency in cath lab equipment operation and patient monitoring systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.

  • Must clear background and drug test required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients and procedure rooms for cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology procedures.
  • Assist physicians during procedures including angiograms, angioplasty, stent placements, pacemaker and ICD insertions, and electrophysiology studies.
  • Operate and monitor specialized equipment such as fluoroscopy, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and imaging technology.
  • Adhere to all sterile technique protocols and infection control policies.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and administer contrast agents under physician supervision.
  • Accurately document procedure details and maintain patient records in compliance with hospital policy.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of cath lab equipment.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and health staff to deliver excellent patient outcomes.
  • Maintain supplies and inventory to support continuous operations of the cath lab.
