About The Position

The Cath Lab Tech is a specialized member of the healthcare team who utilizes advanced, technical skills in the field of interventional cardiology. This role focuses on assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures to ensure the highest quality of patient care is delivered.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiology or cardiovascular technology program.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a Cath Lab or similar role preferred.
  • Current ARRT or RCIS certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
  • Understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology, interventional procedures, and patient care protocols.
  • Strong technical skills related to catheterization techniques and equipment operation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies with quick decision-making and confidence.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to remain calm under pressure and multi-task effectively.
  • A commitment to patient safety and quality of care is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the catheterization lab for procedures, ensuring that all required equipment is functional and sterile.
  • Assists the physician with patient positioning, preparation, and procedural assistance during cardiac catheterizations.
  • Monitors patient conditions before, during, and after procedures, providing immediate care as necessary.
  • Obtains and records accurate patient data, including vital signs and procedural measurements.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of supplies and assists in ordering and restocking as needed.
  • Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.
  • Provides education and support for patients and families regarding procedures and post-procedural care.
  • Actively participates in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
