About The Position

Carilion Clinic is seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) to support the expanding Structural Heart Program. This role is essential in assisting interventional cardiologists during advanced procedures, ensuring high-quality patient care, and contributing to the growth of the program. The CVT will work in a collaborative environment, directly impacting patient outcomes and participating in various procedural tasks.

Requirements

  • Education: RCV through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred; Graduate of Allied Health Profession School (RRT, RTT) with board registry/licensure required.
  • Experience: Interventional Radiology or critical care experience preferred.
  • Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Current RTT or RTR status; AHS BLS-HCP required; must obtain/maintain AHA BLS; must complete AHA ACLS within six months of hire.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with direct patient care during catheterization or interventional procedures in scrub, circulator, and monitor positions.
  • Prepare patients and advanced equipment for invasive procedures.
  • Scrub and assist physicians during procedures, ensuring patient and team needs are met.
  • Advise and plan procedural strategies and supplies with physicians.
  • Assist in emergent conditions and serve as a patient advocate.
  • Obtain and set up procedural supplies and equipment, operating x-ray equipment and administering medication under supervision.
  • Monitor and interpret EKG and hemodynamics during procedures.
  • Input data from patient history, labs, and current case proceedings into various databases.
  • Perform advanced data manipulation for cardiac outputs and assist with electrophysiology studies and ablations.
  • Participate in patient care functions such as transport, sheath removal, and closure site care.
  • Contribute to informed consent and patient education, and participate in performance improvement activities.
