About The Position

The Cath Lab Assistant serves as an integral member of the health care team under the supervision of the RN, performing clerical and patient care assignments as delegated and permitted by law and regulatory bodies and institutional policies and procedures. This position requires the ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned area. Responsibilities include performing EKG testing according to defined protocol and ensuring timely download of EKG machines. The position also involves accurate patient registration, including gathering and inputting demographic and payer information.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required or proof of higher education.
  • BLS for the Healthcare Provider by 60 days after hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Documents patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and/or information systems.
  • Performs required clinical skills including vital sign measurement, aseptic technique, specimen collection, hot and cold applications, simple respiratory therapy, post mortem care, ostomy care, and application of orthopedic devices.
  • Performs patient care tasks related to activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, hair, skin, and oral care.
  • Completes assigned patient duties within the time-frame established by the Registered Nurse.
  • Gathers data including intake, output, vital signs, patient height and weight, and point-of-care test results.
  • Assists with admission, transfer, or discharge of patients.
  • Observes patients carefully for changes and reports in a timely manner.
  • Performs EKG testing according to defined protocol and ensures timely download of EKG machines.
  • Utilizes information while upholding the policies and procedures of Holland Hospital to continuously improve patient care, safety, and practice.
  • Reports patient safety issues utilizing the MOOR occurrence reporting system.
  • Assists with data collection for quality improvement activities.
  • Supports the operation of the unit by completing assigned tasks.
  • Performs ongoing supplies inventory and stocks and cleans patient care areas.
  • Functions as unit receptionist by promptly, politely, and professionally answering phone and greeting visitors.
  • Interviews outpatients for visits to obtain complete and accurate demographic data.

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $16.88 - $23.64/hour
  • Full Time, 72 hours every 2 weeks
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday varied shifts 7:00 am - 5:30 pm and 10:00 am - 8:30 pm, no weekends, no holidays.
