About The Position

The Tabor Hill Catering Event Captain is responsible for leading the catering service staff at weddings, special events, and catering functions. This position requires experience in as and Catering Event Captain in an upscale environment. Previous fine dining or wine service knowledge is ideal but not required; however, you must have serving bartending and serving experience and be 18 years or older. Key Responsibilities: This is a supervisory role and requires an organized, strong and kind demeanor. You will lead the team. Meet with the Catering Sales team to review Banquet Event Orders to correctly execute events service requirements. Before events, assign pre-event tasks to scheduled servers. Check each server and bartender upon arrival for proper uniform and grooming. Lead the BEO meeting when all servers and bartenders arrive on-site. Answer questions and assign pre-shift tasks. Review Tabor Hill's service standards prior to every event at the end of BEO meeting. Set a sample table prior to setting tables. Include all items that will be placed on the table. Execute the opening list to ensure all tasks are completed one half hour prior to event start time. Monitor staff to keep them on schedule and on task. Assign service sections or teams, and assign team leads. Maintain the timeline and inform chef of any delays or if event is running ahead of schedule. Serve food, carry trays large and small and clear/clean guest tables Oversee closing list, breakdown, and reset of room Ensure a positive and memorable experience for all guests

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an event service Captain preferred.
  • Knowledge of catering service standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekend and night shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
