About The Position

As the Category Manager, reporting to the Director – Sourcing, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies for a specific category of goods or services, aligning these strategies with overall business goals. This involves in-depth market knowledge, building and managing strategic relationships with key suppliers to optimize value and performance, leading complex negotiations, leveraging data analysis to drive sourcing decisions and identify opportunities. Additionally, you will be managing financial aspects within your category and effectively collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and achievement of desired outcomes. You will be accountable for the overall performance and risk management within your assigned category.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years procurement experience with a minimum of 3 years in category management
  • Track record of successfully negotiating agreements with suppliers
  • Experience working in the chemicals market required. Direct raw materials and/or energy experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and business acumen
  • Mastery with Microsoft Excel, PPT and SAP

  • Develop and implement category strategies aligned with business objectives, considering medium-term impact and value creation.
  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies for key suppliers and contracts, achieving significant value and mitigating risks through sophisticated techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global and regional market dynamics, supply chain risks, innovation, and competitive landscape within relevant categories.
  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with critical suppliers, focusing on performance management, value creation, and joint improvement initiatives.
  • Leverage data analytics to develop category insights, track performance against targets, and inform strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the financial implications of sourcing decisions, including ROI, TCO, and value engineering principles.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, influencing their decisions and aligning procurement strategies with their business objectives.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies within category plans, considering supply chain vulnerabilities and business continuity.
  • Manage complex sourcing projects with cross-functional teams, applying project management methodologies and ensuring successful delivery of outcomes.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional sourcing teams, providing guidance, coaching, and fostering collaboration.
