About The Position

The Strategic Sourcing Category Manager for the Operational Services Division (OSD) is responsible for managing the Tradesperson and Facility Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) categories. This role focuses on developing innovative sourcing and procurement strategies to exceed customer expectations while fostering strong vendor relationships. The manager will lead cross-functional teams to ensure the effective execution of statewide contracts, driving growth and aligning with key government initiatives such as climate change and supplier diversity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Management, Facilities Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in category management or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and strategic planning abilities.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and market research tools.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools, particularly Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of supply chain and inventory management.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in materials management or trade certifications.
  • Familiarity with marketing and sales principles.
  • Public Procurement Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a best-in-class category team of internal and external experts.
  • Lead the development and implementation of category strategies.
  • Analyze market trends and customer insights to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Oversee the pricing, promotion, and portfolio offerings for various categories.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to achieve the best value.
  • Establish, track, and analyze category performance metrics.
  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management.
