About The Position

Interested in working on an innovative and high-impact business that is changing the way customers think about grocery? Amazon is looking for a customer obsessed, analytical and innovative individual to join Amazon Fresh Grocery as a Category Manager. This role will own the P&L for some of the largest categories and vendors in Produce. You will utilize a wide range of skills and work across major functional areas such as inventory management, marketing, merchandising, pricing, operations, and finance to drive the performance of strategic categories and vendor partners. The ideal candidate should have extensive buying experience as well as demonstrated ability to operate independently, think strategically, analyze data, conduct business reviews, lead winning negotiations and provide strong customer service support. A detail-oriented and analytical mindset is a must along with a strong proficiency in Excel and a natural curiosity to solve complex problems. This role requires you to be external facing, representing Amazon to vendors as you optimize category growth and drive negotiations. You will be expected to thrive in ambiguous situations, take ownership of goals and work in a fast-paced environment to deliver results. Much of this work will be cross-functional, working with internal and external stakeholders. As a result, a collaborative attitude, great communication skills and a keen sense of initiative are critical to success. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who will take ownership of projects and business problems to drive successful results.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of with Excel experience
  • 5+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting with negotiations and delivering results experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of professional or military experience
  • Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing large data sets and utilizing to drive performance and process improvements
  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development

Responsibilities

  • Own the P&L for multiple large categories and vendors, hitting top and bottom line targets
  • Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets by executing annual and ongoing vendor negotiations
  • Develop strategic relationships with new and existing suppliers to ensure early insight into new trends and products; early and exclusive access to new items; merchandising and promotions and competitive costs
  • Drive winning negotiations and represent Amazon when meeting with vendor senior leadership
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams, including Marketing, In-Stock, and Merchandising, to drive superior category & vendor results
  • Continuously audit to improve the customer experience and business performance
