About The Position

We are looking to hire a Category Manager on the Headquarters Category Management Team, supporting the Dry Recipe Mix (DRM) desk. This opportunity is Hybrid (50/50) capacity at our Global Headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland. This position reports into a Category Management Director. This Category Manager II is a critical HQ-based role in the Sales organization, supporting the execution of national strategies, particularly in areas of assortment, pricing, and shelving, to achieve division sales and profit goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required with emphasis on Business preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in Sales, Finance, Marketing or Business Management.
  • 4+ years of experience customer/sales experience, including 2+ years in Category Management.
  • Keen understanding of Field Sales and Retailer process in business analytics as well as distribution hurdles.
  • Creative problem solving in the dynamic environment of retailers that includes knowledge of retails, products, vendors, materials, and common category management practices.
  • High level strategic thinking as well as a broad category perspective in addition to the McCormick & Co portfolio of products.
  • Familiarity with the Category Management process, must have strong knowledge of syndicated and panel data (Circana, Nielsen, etc.) as well as pricing, promotion and assortment optimization software and experience working with customer POS data systems (84.51, EYC, etc).
  • Strong analytic skills and demonstrated ability to translate insights into actionable business recommendations that deliver positive results.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to analyze and understand the data and then effectively communicate those insights to both internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to react quickly and complete tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, self-motivated and team oriented.
  • Understands industry/CPG sector and competitive landscape.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding industry, consumer and category trends and translating those insights into actionable strategic business recommendations to achieve both McCormick and customer goals and objectives.
  • Providing proactive analysis and shopper insight driven recommendations against all key business drivers, and leading internal & customer presentations related to category business reviews, assortment & space optimization, promotion & pricing effectiveness, and trade efficiency.
  • Leveraging all the analytic tools available (e.g. POS, Panel, 3rd party data sources) to identify actionable growth opportunities.
  • Developing collaborative partnerships both internally within McCormick and externally with key strategic customers so that McCormick is viewed as the category leader in providing flavor solutions and category recommendations for the categories in which we compete.
  • Manage and develop one analyst-level direct report.
