The Category Leadership Manager (CLM) plays an instrumental role as a data oriented, tactical member of the Beer division of Constellation Brands. The CLM expands Constellation's reputation as a high-quality, valued provider for our customers. Exhibiting accountability and dependability, the CLM is proactive, collaborative, logical, highly flexible in analytical approach, and able to focus on desired outcomes, not just reactive, quick solutions.

Requirements

  • 1 - 2 years of space management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of JDA Intactix or Apollo system usage and output, including the application of measures contained within.
  • Average understanding of a variety of system output and application of measures contained within. These include the following: IRI, Nielsen, or SPINS syndicated and panel data
  • Spectra
  • Retailer loyalty data (e.g.Spire)
  • Above average user of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Moves beyond analyzing factual data independently by grasping a conceptual understanding of a wide range of information. Filters through irrelevant information, questions the limits or quality of data, and integrate multiple data sources to generate insights or deeper levels of understanding for the issue at hand.
  • Expertly able to manipulate space management software to produce an assortment that aligns with the retailer's goals and consumer demands. Notices when raw data appears wrong or incomplete and can ensure data accuracy and process adherence.
  • Uses PowerPoint to create a story that drives strategic initiatives and business growth by focusing on the most important concepts without overwhelming the customer or overcomplicating the opportunity.
  • Completes work with little oversight, focusing time and effort on key tasks to bring projects to a successful resolution. Works efficiency without sacrificing accuracy and can transition quickly between tasks.
  • Responds positively to change. Embraces and commits to new process and tools to complete responsibilities, solve problems, and accomplish goals.
  • Promotes cooperation and shared commitment to achieve goals and deliverables collectively as a team. Helps to remove barriers to team productivity and ultimately, team success.

  • Must be live or be willing to relocate to Nashville, TN
  • Available to travel a minimum of 20% of his/her working time, including up to 5 hrs. driving time.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of space management experience.
  • 1 - 2 years of direct sales, merchandising, or retail store management experience.
  • 1 - 2 years of category management, consumer or shopper insights, or research experience which included the management of sub-categories or segments of a category.
  • Above average understanding of a variety of system output and application of measures contained within IRI, Nielsen, or SPINS syndicated and panel data, PowerBI, Spectra, retail loyalty data.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Excel, Work, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Influences and manages all space management projects for assigned customer(s).
  • Leads space management analysis and designs category shelf schematics following Constellation's standardized planning processes, tools, and space strategies.
  • Collaborates with Sales partners to determine account priorities, and pursue most impactful initiatives pertaining to space, assortment, and other sales analytics.
  • Conducts space and distribution opportunity analysis to optimize revenue and profit by improving shopping convenience.
  • Makes product addition and deletion recommendations by brand and package. .
  • Participates in the reset decision making process with other vendors and merchandisers.
  • Establishes, controls, and implements retail execution plan methods and procedures to improve overall project effectiveness.
  • Reports changes implemented including physical space gains/losses by brewer/brand.
  • Deploys a high-level of organizational skills for meetings, follow ups, complex tasks and time management including leveraging calendar reminders, notes and meeting agendas
  • Develop and recommend pricing strategies based on the customer(s) goals tailored to the specific market including competitive landscape
  • Prepares category reviews or conducts analysis as the category advisor. Extracts the requested and required raw data from retailer or Constellation systems as necessary including retailer proprietary POS, loyalty, or primary research systems and studies and Constellation syndicated data systems.
  • Proactively identifies and presents business growth opportunities and develops important category insights, solutions, and presentations for assigned customer(s).
  • Provides input and helps prepare Annual Business Plans as well as the Joint Business Plans with sales partner(s).
  • Updates scorecards and reports for assigned customer(s) and summarizes the results in a concise manner.
  • Manages and tracks progress across all initiatives, summarizes and routinely reports on outcomes to both internal and external partners.
  • Fosters strong relationships with retailers, wholesalers, and our internal teams to advance our shared goals and grow the category
