About The Position

The Category Leader will work in partnership with the Sourcing Centers of Excellence (COE) team to execute on category strategies. In support of the category strategies, the Sourcing COE will lead key sourcing functions including take to market strategies, negotiations, contract drafting, and help support contract lifecycle management. Category Leaders are also expected to work with our Control Tower, Field Logistics team, Operations, Facility Leaders and Regional Leaders to drive implementation and rationalization efforts for a more standardized approach.

Requirements

  • Experience overseeing mid-level, semi-complex projects, successfully managing communications, stakeholders, and risk.
  • Demonstrated experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or a similar role within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing, supply chain purchasing, contracting strategy, supplier relationship management, and large-scale procurement operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal/written communication, with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority; must be able to prioritize, delegate and foster collaboration within high performance teams

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s or Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS)
  • Health care product knowledge preferred
  • Experience leveraging GPO contracts as part of the category strategy.
  • Experience working in supply chain procurement (sourcing, contracting, purchasing)
  • Familiarity with strategic eProcurement platforms (eSourcing, Contract Lifecycle Management, and Supplier Performance Management modules) and implementation of modules to improve efficiency of the team

Responsibilities

  • Engage key business owners to align category strategies with business objectives.
  • Develops comprehensive category strategies that drive long-term value and align with business goals.
  • Provide regular updates on category performance, strategic initiatives, and market trends to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in value analysis team meetings and initiatives.
  • Accountable for quantifying and delivering against savings targets for assigned categories.
  • Conducts regular supplier performance reviews and manage supplier scorecards.
  • Proactively identifies supplier risks, supply assurance and plan accordingly.
  • Conducts market research and analysis to stay ahead of industry trends and competitive dynamics.
  • Evaluates new Technologies, item add requests, and product evaluation to maximize financial performance and operational excellence.
  • Creates a pipeline of opportunities by adopting a total cost of ownership mindset, considering direct and indirect costs.
  • Provides data-driven insights to inform decision-making and improve clinical and financial outcomes.
  • Develops tools and processes to streamline contract administration and enhance governance.
  • Ensures desired KPIs are in the contract and implemented withing appropriate service lines.
  • Responsible for understanding contracts within their category portfolio, proactively managing expiration dates, identifying opportunities for improvement and reducing administrative waste.
  • Responsible for proactively prioritizing their next 12–18-month category portfolio and publishing the necessary categories to our sourcing calendar
