About The Position

The Category lead is a strategic partner responsible for driving the end-to-end management, performance, and optimization of an Indirect Category (e.g. packaging, IT, MRO, professional services, facilities or other indirect spend areas) within the global supply chain. This role plays a critical part in shaping sourcing strategies for indirect goods and services, enhancing supplier relationships, and delivering long-term value through cost optimization, risk mitigation, and innovation. As a member within the supply chain organization, the Category Lead collaborates cross-functionally with stakeholders in Operations, Quality, Finance, and R&D to ensure alignment with business objectives and operational excellence. About the Role: Lead the development and execution of comprehensive indirect category sourcing strategies aligned with organizational goals. Drive supplier selection and qualification processes through RFI/RFQ activities, ensuring alignment with technical, quality, and commercial requirements. Lead contract negotiations and establish agreements with indirect suppliers and service providers. Manage and execute supply chain initiatives focused on cost savings, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency for indirect spend categories. Oversee vendor lifecycle management, including onboarding, performance evaluation, and exit strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of sourcing strategies and continuity of indirect services. Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and internal demand to identify strategic sourcing opportunities. Serve as strategic advisor to senior leadership on category performance, risks, and opportunities. Champion continuous improvement and innovation within the indirect supply base and internal processes. Mentor and influence cross-functional teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in indirect category management (e.g. packaging, IT, MRO, professional services, facilities, or other indirect spend areas).
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Willingness to flex work hours as necessary to engage with global teams and supply partners.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and facilitate different perspectives to drive solutions.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement analytics tools, SAP and COUPA or equivalent systems preferred.
