About The Position

The Category Insights Manager will lead the development and delivery of actionable insights that inform strategic decisions across product categories, customer segments, and competitive landscapes. This role is responsible for analyzing category performance, interpreting customer feedback, and synthesizing market intelligence into clear, data-driven recommendations that support growth initiatives and brand strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Analytics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in category management, customer insights, or market research.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel) and CRM platforms (e.g., Dynamics 365).
  • Strong analytical, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with third-party research vendors and syndicated data sources.
  • Curiosity to get to the root of a problem/solution and begin investigation of questions that haven't been yet asked.
  • Translate ambiguous questions to clear investigative objectives with hypothesis
  • P&L/Sales/Customer/End User acumen
  • High level understanding of how data is managed within various technology platforms (CRM (Dynamics) /PBI/ERP/Data Lakes)
  • Continuous learning of new information sources, data interpretation techniques, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze category performance across key product lines (e.g., siding, decking, doors).
  • Track competitive activity and market share shifts using internal data and third-party tools (e.g., Principia BuilderSeries).
  • Deliver quarterly and ad hoc reports on category trends, pricing dynamics, and growth opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales and Brand teams to identify underperforming segments and recommend corrective strategies.
  • Develop and deliver presentation on category, brand, region, and CRM performance including trends, share, key drivers to marketing, sales, and executive leadership
  • Coordinate with various internal teams and external teams to design, execute, and present custom research projects.
  • Design and maintain "self-serve" dashboards on key business drivers that business partners have access, understanding and awareness of. Collaboration with business partners to determine the content and priority of dashboards.
  • Design and manage customer surveys, focus groups, and feedback loops.
  • Analyze customer satisfaction (CSAT), Net Promoter Score (NPS), and Customer Effort Score (CES) to uncover pain points and strengths.
  • Translate qualitative and quantitative feedback into actionable insights for product development, marketing, and service teams.
  • Present findings to leadership and cross-functional teams to guide strategic planning.
  • Define and maintain KPIs for key account sales performance across product categories.
  • Track and report on sales trends, growth targets, and account-level performance metrics.
  • Partner with Regional Business Partners and Regional Managers to ensure alignment between insights and field execution.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly performance summaries to Sales Leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for account growth and recommend strategic actions based on data.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that visualize category performance, customer sentiment, and competitive benchmarks.
  • Create compelling narratives from data to support executive decision-making and sales enablement.
  • Collaborate with IT and CRM teams to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Work closely with Brand Managers, Sales Leaders, and CRM Administrators to align insights with business goals.
  • Serve as the internal champion for customer-centric thinking and data-driven strategy.
  • Support geographic expansion initiatives with market intelligence and customer profiling.
