The Category Director – Perfumes and Cosmetics develops and executes the strategy of the assigned Premium categories and maximizing sales and profits for the Premium categories of business in both Duty Free and Duty Paid locations. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the assigned Premium categories, which include Perfume and Cosmetics in both Duty Free and Duty Paid. The director will develop and implement assortment strategies aligned with the overall category strategy and objectives of the North American business, execute strategies for the launch of new brands in travel retail, and establish global annual sales targets. The position also involves leading buying professionals in the development and implementation of category management strategies, directing product assortments, and overseeing vendor relationships.

  • Oversee all aspects of the assigned Premium categories including Perfume and Cosmetics.
  • Develop and implement assortment strategies aligned with overall category strategy.
  • Execute strategies for the launch of new brands in travel retail.
  • Establish global annual sales targets and manage inventory and marketing programs.
  • Support brand standards training with Operations.
  • Lead Buying professionals in category management strategies.
  • Establish multiyear growth strategies in margin and sales.
  • Direct product assortments including product selection and inventory management.
  • Work with Global Perfumes & Cosmetics team on vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
  • Research global and regional trends in shopping behavior.
  • Provide input to pricing, promotion, and assortment policies.
  • Negotiate with vendors for support and ensure correct billing information.
  • Drive category performance through implementation of category strategy.
  • Supervise local product category management and report local needs.
  • Minimum of 8 years of combined education and professional experience.
  • 3 years of experience in a leadership role managing a senior level team.
  • 8 years of buying experience in international brands or duty free retail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field can count for 3 years of experience.
  • MBA or master’s degree can count for an additional 2 years of experience.
  • 3-5 years of travel or luxury retail experience.
  • Training in buying and category management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Advanced business acumen and strategic mindset.
  • History of anticipating business needs and stakeholder management.
  • Experience in creating positive work environments through coaching.
