About The Position

The Category Development Analyst Internship at Hormel Foods is designed for students pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. The intern will collaborate with the Category Development team to analyze customer category assignments and develop strategies that align with marketing objectives and customer needs. This role provides exposure to various job functions and competitive market strategies, enhancing the intern's understanding of the food industry.

Requirements

• Must graduate in August 2025, December 2025, or May 2026 with a major in Marketing, Professional Selling, Business Administration, or a relevant degree program, with a preferred 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• Demonstrated leadership, persuasiveness, initiative, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of computers, syndicated data, space management tools, spreadsheets, databases, and category management tools.
• Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the U.S.
• Comfortable with the preparation and consumption of meat products, specifically pork, beef, and chicken.

Responsibilities

• Pull and analyze syndicated and customer POS data.
• Develop recommendations based on analysis of data from various sources, including internal Hormel data and retailer-specific POS/internal data.
• Assist in integrating category assessments for assigned categories/brands to improve business results.
• Develop recommendations for new item distribution, shelf space management, and merchandising strategies.
• Assist in presenting recommendations to Hormel retail customers.
