About The Position

The Category Analyst supports category strategy, analytics, and product program initiatives across the automotive aftermarket business. This role partners with the Senior Category Manager and cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven insights that support assortment decisions, new product introductions, and category growth. The position focuses on analyzing sales performance, vehicle demand trends, and market data to identify opportunities that support internal planning and customer product programs. The Category Analyst plays an important role in turning complex data—including POS performance, vehicle-in-operation (VIO) trends, and market insights—into clear reporting and actionable recommendations that support category strategy and product planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1–4 years of experience in category management, analytics, product management, sales support, or related business functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify actionable insights.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft business tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in the automotive aftermarket in a category, product management, catalog, analytics, or account support role.
  • Familiarity with automotive data standards such as ACES and PIES developed by the Auto Care Association.
  • Experience working with syndicated market data providers such as Circana.
  • Exposure to filtration or other automotive maintenance product categories.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales performance, category trends, and vehicle demand drivers to identify growth opportunities and assortment optimization opportunities.
  • Support development of category reviews, internal business insights, and strategic planning discussions.
  • Evaluate pricing, promotional activity, and competitive positioning across product categories.
  • Provide analytical support for new item introductions and product program launches.
  • Assist with assortment analysis, SKU productivity evaluation, and product lifecycle performance.
  • Support category initiatives by partnering with product management and sales teams.
  • Maintain dashboards and recurring reporting that track category and product performance.
  • Compile and analyze data from internal sales systems, syndicated market data, and automotive industry datasets.
  • Translate complex datasets into concise insights and executive-ready summaries.
  • Collaborate with sales, product management, marketing, and supply chain teams on category initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing insights and materials used in business reviews and planning discussions.
  • Support ad hoc analytical projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
