About The Position

The Category Analyst at Fresh Thyme Market plays a crucial role in the Merchandising department by gathering and analyzing data to support departmental decisions. This position focuses on monitoring inventory, sales trends, and profits to optimize business performance, while also providing support to Category Managers and ensuring effective communication across various teams. The role follows a hybrid work schedule, allowing for both in-office and remote work.

Requirements

• B.S./B.A. degree in business or accounting or equivalent work experience.
• Preferred grocery retail experience.
• Knowledge of financial acumen specific to profit & loss statements and analysis.
• Ability to adapt to the ever-changing retail environment while working in a cross-functional team.
• Initiative in problem-solving and flexibility in various situations.
• Advanced attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional interactions.
• Expert knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience with eCommerce performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with retail software systems.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to the departmental Category Managers.
• Offers customer service to all store locations regarding questions, issues, and concerns within the merchandise departments.
• Learns, uses, and maintains internal wholesale/retail software systems.
• Monitors and tracks pricing, promotions, purchasing, costs, inventory levels, and logistics.
• Responsible for managing billing promotions, free fills, and ongoing discounts from start to finish.
• Works with Category Managers to build and maintain schematics.
• Prepares and presents comprehensive evaluations of data and develops clear communication to identify opportunities.
• Monitors performance of eCommerce sites and troubleshoots issues.
• Compiles analysis for total company comparisons using internal software programs.
• Creates pricing, promotion, assortment, and shelf schematics based on detailed analysis of past performance and consumer trends.
• Maintains and reviews price files and conducts competitive price checks.
• Facilitates implementation of programs in conjunction with operations and other departments.
