About The Position

As a Cataloging Librarian, you will play a crucial role in this mission by creating and maintaining cataloging records that ensure libraries can effectively manage and provide access to their collections. In this position, you will be responsible for creating original and adaptive Library of Congress (LC) cataloging records for various media types, including books, e-books, videos, and audio products. You will utilize Unabridged Dewey and Library of Congress classification systems, as well as Library of Congress subject headings, following AACR2 rules and MARC format. Your work will involve examining item-in-hand or pre-publication materials, writing brief objective summaries, and updating records as necessary to maintain accuracy and compliance with national standards and company conventions. You will be part of a dynamic team that values analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of resources available to libraries and educational institutions, helping to foster a love of reading and learning in communities around the world. The work environment is typically moderate in noise level, and you will be expected to perform physical tasks such as sitting for extended periods and lifting/moving items up to 10 pounds.
