About The Position

The Catalog Writer at The Jockey Club Information Systems, Inc. is responsible for composing and stylizing thoroughbred catalogue pages and stallion register pages. This role involves writing, proofreading, conducting foreign research, and updating content to ensure accuracy and quality in the catalogues produced for Thoroughbred sales companies.

Requirements

• Above average PC and keyboard skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Quark Express.
• Ability to multi-task and follow rules/guidelines while working under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
• Ability to follow instructions, work with a team, and provide feedback on project progress.
• Availability in the office during the busy season (M - F; August - November).
• Interest in Thoroughbred pedigrees and knowledge of the Thoroughbred industry is beneficial.
• Willingness to accept feedback on proof pages from multiple readers.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in proofreading (1 year preferred).
• Experience in technical writing (1 year preferred).
• Experience in the Thoroughbred industry (1 year preferred).

Responsibilities

• Compose and stylize thoroughbred catalogue pages and stallion register pages.
• Edit, update, and proofread Thoroughbred sales catalogues and stallion register pages.
• Ensure attention to detail and accuracy in all written materials.
• Assist with reception and switchboard duties in a backup capacity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
