About The Position

Reporting to the Dean, Undergraduate Education, and working independently, the Catalog and Curriculum Coordinator position provides complex administrative and curricular support to Deans, Chairs, faculty, and staff, and responds to student inquiries. The incumbent has primary responsibility for maintaining and updating the curriculum tables in PeopleSoft and Modern Campus databases (Curriculum and Catalog), developing, revising, implementing, and evaluating processes and procedures to establish best practices. This position provides guidance and support on curricular development to faculty and staff. This position must demonstrate sound judgment and, operating independently, understand and communicate how curricular development is impacted by federal, state, CSU, and SJSU policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate with constituents in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Thorough knowledge of SJSU academic program methods, procedures and practices; English grammar, business writing, punctuation and spelling.
  • Ability to make constructive recommendations for modifications or improvements of procedures or programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply expertise to complex programs and/or administrative specialties, including pertinent policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze problems having broad administrative impact.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects.
  • Completion of a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined
  • Three years of related office work experience

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training in related field of study
  • Two years of experience in program coordination involving study, analysis and/or evaluation leading to implementation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs required.
  • Experience with curriculum development, curriculum management or academic advising.
  • Knowledge of SJSU and or curriculum and degrees
  • Experience using PeopleSoft student administrative software, Curriculog or an equivalent database.
  • Experience with developing and updating websites using content management system.
  • Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated in writing sample.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews curricular proposals in Modern Campus Curriculum for completeness, correctness, and adherence to policies and guidelines.
  • Provides curriculum information and consultation to programs undergoing curriculum or program changes.
  • Advises faculty when proposed revisions require formal review or are inconsistent with policy and/or degree requirements.
  • Works with departments and University offices to clarify curricular requirements and policy updates, applies and evaluates uniformity and consistency standards for language and format, resolves problems related to catalog content and production.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the CMS (PeopleSoft) course catalog.
  • Updates and maintains accurate curricular information within the online Academic Catalog and MyRoadmaps platform (Modern Campus Catalog).
  • Provides support to the following committees: Curriculum and Research Committee, Undergraduate Studies Committee, and Graduate Studies and Research Committee.
