About The Position
Professional Cat Sitter (1099 Contractor) — Durham, NC Metro Area Reliable. Detail-oriented. Great communicator. If you’re the type of person who sends thorough updates after each visit and follows instructions exactly, you’ll fit right in. The Comforted Kitty is contracting with independent cat sitters in the Durham metro area. This is a 1099 independent contractor role (not W-2). You choose your availability and service area; we match you with clients based on fit and demand. What You’ll Do Provide in-home cat sitting for drop-ins and overnights Follow client instructions precisely: food, water, litter, enrichment Support meds when applicable (based on your skill level and comfort) Keep the home tidy + handle small tasks (mail, plants, trash) Send updates after each visit (notes + photos) via our app Service Types Drop-in visits: 30 / 45 / 60 minutes (1–3x daily) Overnights: 10-hour stays in the client’s home 24-hour live-in care: overnight + staying in client’s home most of daytime What Clients Value (and What We Hire For) You’ll succeed here if you can consistently deliver: Peace of mind: clear after-each-visit updates with photos Easy logistics: professional meet & greet + smooth coordination Medication confidence: careful, calm handling when needed Home-care basics: the details done right (litter/food/water/tidy) Reliability: on-time, routine consistency Trust: respectful, professional in someone’s home
Requirements
- 18+ and cat care experience (professional not required, but real experience is)
- A smartphone with reliable internet + camera (updates are required)
- Ability to pass a background check and provide references
- Strong written communication and responsiveness
- Professionalism entering and working in clients’ homes
Nice To Haves
- Medication experience (oral meds, injections, fluids) and/or Pet First Aid/CPR
- Availability during peak times (especially winter holidays)
