About The Position

Meadowview Regional Medical Center is seeking a Cat Scan Tech to join our team. We are a 100-bed, acute care, Joint Commission accredited facility, recognized as one of the 100 Top Hospitals in the country five times in the past decade. Our mission is to deliver high quality, cost-effective healthcare in the communities we serve. The position involves reviewing patient history and physician's orders, educating patients about procedures, and monitoring patient conditions. The Cat Scan Tech will also prepare and administer contrast media, implement safety standards, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and analyze imaging results.

Requirements

  • Education: Two (2) year certificate, Associate degree and/or Baccalaureate degree.
  • Licenses: Current Radiation Operator Certificate in the state of Kentucky.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Must accept on call assignments for regularly scheduled shifts and be available to report to facility within 30 minutes of notification.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
