About The Position

The CT Scan Aide provides support and assistance to all hospital-based departments of Imaging Services. Working under the supervision of the CT Scan Supervisor and the Manager of Diagnostic Radiology, this position performs a variety of duties related to clerical tasks and patient care. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to safely and efficiently carry out assigned patient care tasks while maintaining a patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients to and from the Emergency Department (ED), inpatients, and outpatients as required.
  • Greet patients and provide assistance as needed.
  • Clean and stock CT scan rooms to ensure readiness for procedures.
  • Complete contrast consent forms for the next day's schedule.
  • Question patients and review consent forms with them prior to procedures.
  • Assist in positioning patients on the CT scan table for imaging.
  • Order supplies for the CT scan department as needed.
  • Perform weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly checks of supplies to ensure expiration dates are within compliance.
  • Communicate scan reports to appropriate floors or physician offices using Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Assist in moving patients from stretchers to examination tables.
  • Become proficient in using the hoyer lift and sit-to-stand lift for patient transfers.
  • Obtain thorough patient histories and call for patients as required.
  • Check Medical Records (MT) for lab results, medications, and allergies for all patients.
  • Review next day's schedules for diagnoses and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes.
  • Provide assistance to other modalities within the department as needed.
  • Submit work orders for departmental needs as required.
  • Follow instructions and direction from various modalities within the department.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Maintain the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent patient skills and ensure compliance with HIPAA rules and regulations.
