McColm & Company (McColm) is a mission-driven and customer-focused consulting firm that equips change makers with the knowledge, skills, and insights they need to succeed in an increasingly complex world. McColm specializes in supporting U.S. federal customers with emergency response, national security, human services, and foreign affairs focused portfolios by managing bespoke professional training programs, delivering effective capacity building solutions, and providing highly specialized technical assistance and analysis expertise to decision makers. McColm is expanding our bench of qualified Casualty Role Players in support of CERFP (CBRN Enhanced Response Force Package) exercise support services. These opportunities are short term, intermittent contract opportunities in which the Role Player will need to be available to provide services on customer established dates and at the Government's site - typically for 3-7 days per assignment. The position description below details the anticipated duties and qualifications of the role, contingent upon contract award. As a Casualty Role Player, you will portray an injured civilian victim during a realistic mass casualty training exercise. Your participation is essential to giving Nebraska National Guard units lifelike experience they cannot get any other way. Each day, you will: Arrive at the training site by the specified time and report to the moulage station to receive simulated injury makeup (moulage) applied by professional moulage artists. Receive briefing on your assigned injury type (for example: crush injury, burns, chemical exposure symptoms, trauma, panic), your injury card, and acting instructions. Be placed in or near the Structural Collapse Venue Site (rubble pile) or exercise staging area according to the exercise scenario. Portray your assigned injury / condition as National Guard soldiers locate, extract, decontaminate, and provide simulated medical treatment to you - repeating the cycle a minimum throughout the day. Pass through the full exercise sequence: extraction from the rubble pile, decontamination (you will get wet — see preparation notes below), and medical holding area. Be transported between the moulage station, rubble pile, and decontamination / medical areas by the McColm logistics team throughout the day. Complete the exercise day (generally 0800–1700) and be released following the final iteration. Please read the following before applying: You will get wet. Role players pass through decontamination shower stations where prop clothing is removed and you are scrubbed with brushes and water (often cold water). You must wear a swimsuit or skintight undergarment (e.g., compression shorts/top, sports bra) under your prop clothing. You will have prop clothing (provided) cut off of you as part of the decontamination process. Do not wear your own clothing you wish to keep. You must not bring cellular phones, jewelry, watches, or personal valuables into the rubble pile area. McColm is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal items. Shower shoes / water shoes are required for the decontamination lane. These are provided by McColm. Costume prop jewelry (provided) will be placed on you for processing of casualty valuables during the exercise. You will work outdoors. September and November in Nebraska can include heat, wind, rain, and cold. Dress in layers where possible; the McColm team will have shelter available. Mandatory safety training and orientation will be provided before you enter any exercise area. Hard hats, eye protection, and gloves are required and will be provided for any role player entering the rubble pile.
