About The Position

AWC is hiring several Shuttle Drivers for days or night positions - This is a casual (part time) position and the shift is 5:30am-5:30pm OR 5:30pm-5:30am and you must be able to work the full shifts on every weekend with some shifts during the week (days & nights) as needed. This position is 100% outdoors driving/moving the new vehicles around our yard. We require a valid drivers license with a good driving record and you must be able to pass a drug test and background check. AWC pays weekly and we are an amazing family company! Competitive pay starting at $32.00 per hour with pay increases based on the collective bargaining agreement. Job requirements include Yard Up-fitter and Rail functions. Yard: move vehicles from Plant Release Gate to yard bays, pull vehicles from yard bays to load lines for haul-away carriers. Up-fitter Function: Driv e units to and from up-fitters, inspect units before and after delivery. Rail: Safely driving vehicles onto or off railcars wearing PPE, securing vehicles to railcars according to manufacturer and American Association of Railroad standards, and preparing railcars for transportation. Must have a valid driver's license.

Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (often extreme) for long periods

  • Ability to get in and out of vehicle driver's door with minimal door opening clearance

  • Ability to pass Driver's Safety Test, Rail quiz with 80% or better
  • Ability to read and match numbers quickly and accurately
  • Ability to differentiate between colors for vehicle identification
  • Ability to read and understand location cards and work orders
  • Ability to read and understand SDS
  • Ability to write, read, and comprehend basic English
  • Ability to drive both standard and automatic automobiles
  • Ability to follow directions, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the use of hand tools (i.e., wrenches, screw drivers, ratchets, )
  • Must have a valid driver's license; good driving record with the ability to maintain the same
  • Must pass AWC pre-placement background clearances including pre-employment drug screening, HPE physical demand testing
  • High School Diploma and/or GED

Responsibilities

  • Drive vehicles to and from specified locations in the yard, , and on and off rail cars.
  • Make certain all vehicles are parked in proper locations and bayed
  • Understand and apply all AWC, customer, AAR, safety and quality standards/policies.
  • Follow all safety guidelines to guarantee the job is done in a safe
  • Identify vehicles and insert documentation as
  • Inform Managers of any issues that could affect production or quality
  • Log processed work into computer programs or tracking system as
  • Meet or exceed established production and quality
  • Read and match VIN numbers quickly and accurately to ensure movement of proper
  • Visually verifies and inspects vehicles for
  • Open or close railcar
  • Raise and lower railcar
  • Secure customer vehicles to railcars by using chocks and tie-downs as
  • Lift, set and pin bridge
  • Operate buck ramps and stationary loading
  • Properly store chocks and tie-
  • Keep work areas, vans, appropriate work attire, etc. clean and
  • Notify supervision of anyworkplace hazards or unsafe conditions immediately upon
  • Report accidents and injuries immediately and follow up with the completion of the appropriate forms.
