The Pharmacy department is staffed by registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with experience in a pediatric pharmacy setting. They assess and monitor the patients responses to medication therapy against intended outcomes of care and work with professional staff and other health care providers to modify therapy if needed. They provide patient drug education and discharge counseling, consultation, specialized drug information services, as well as participate in educational and outreach programs.

The Pharmacy Technician has, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities in the Pharmacy Department: Intravenous product preparation, Unit does cartfill, inventory management, automated and decentralized medication stocking (Pyxis), outpatient prescriptions. The percentage of time that a particular technician spends on specific responsibilities will differ depending on the number of tasks the technician is trained to complete. Technicians must be internally trained in a task prior to performing the task on their own.

Requirements

• Active technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy OR active registration as a pharmacy intern in the state of Minnesota with concurrent active enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy is required.
• For newly registered technicians/registered interns without Tech 240 certification, you will be required to complete 240 hours of theoretical and practical training on-site within twelve months of hire.
• High school degree or equivalent, required
• Minimum of 6 months experience as a pharmacy technician, required

Nice To Haves

• Certified as a pharmacy technician (CPhT) is preferred, but not required.
• Active registration as a pharmacy intern in the state of MN with active enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy may be accepted in leu of CPhT certification.
