The PAL Tutor Coordinator position at the University of Hawai'i - West O'ahu is a part-time, temporary role designed to support the Peer Academic Leader (PAL) program within the Math and Sciences Division. This position is crucial for fostering the success and growth of Peer Academic Leaders by providing them with quality developmental support services. The coordinator will be responsible for various tasks, including recruitment, training, and evaluation of PALs, ensuring that they are well-equipped to assist their peers effectively. The role also involves designing and executing educational experiences and training opportunities tailored to the needs of the PALs, thereby enhancing their tutoring capabilities and overall effectiveness. In addition to supporting PALs, the coordinator will act as a liaison between instructors and PALs, facilitating communication and collaboration to improve the tutoring experience. This includes gathering feedback from students, PALs, and teachers to assess the program's impact and maintain accurate data on tutoring sessions. The coordinator will also play a vital role in encouraging PALs to engage in outreach activities, promoting the program and its benefits to the wider student community. Furthermore, the PAL Tutor Coordinator will assist in recruitment efforts for the Math and Natural Sciences (MNHS) Division, contributing to the development of marketing materials and presentations aimed at attracting students to the BSNS in Applied Mathematics and BSNS in Life Science programs.
