Provides safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective patient care as delegated by orthopedist. Applies and removes casts/splints as ordered by physician. Responsibilities Responsible for the provision of delegated patient care services. Ensures daily living activities are performed as scheduled and documented. Performs casting as directed by physician. Answers patient call bells promptly and provides emotional and physical support and/or communicates needs to appropriate health care provider. Provides for safety of patient. Maintains skills. Follows safety rules in all areas of patient care and ensures a safe patient environment. Demonstrates proficiency in use/application of all equipment. Maintains supplies/equipment of the assigned area. Ensures all patient care equipment is in proper working order. Obtains and delivers equipment, paperwork, and supplies in a timely manner. Maintains adequate supplies for patient care. Communicates patient/family/client needs to appropriate health care provider. Reports significant events and situations to appropriate team member. Assists with planning by sharing input from patient and family with appropriate team member and implementing the plan of care. Answers telephone appropriately and accurately delivering information to other team members. Participates in performance improvement activities. Qualifications Education: High School or GED Completion of Orthopedic Specialist (Casting) course or 6 months in assisting in orthopedic cases and applying casts/splints per doctor's orders Casting course may be completed within 6 months of hire Experience: None Skills: Assist in orthopedic cases in clinic setting Apply casts per doctor's orders Assist on minor orthopedic procedures in Clinic Apply splints per doctor's orders Oral and written communication skills Keyboarding
