About The Position

The Casting Manufacturing Engineering team is seeking highly skilled and hands-on Equipment Engineers to drive operational excellence within our aluminum die casting operations. This role requires a deep technical understanding of die casting machines and it’s peripheral equipment. You will work in a fast-paced, high-tech environment where your expertise in equipment and facility design, debugging and troubleshooting will drive performance, and reliability of our high-pressure die casting cells meet Ford’s world-class standards for precision and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field. (Equivalent experience—typically 10+ years in a specialized role—may be considered).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a high-pressure aluminum die casting environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, equipment design, electrical and pneumatic drawings.
  • Proven experience with operation and troubleshooting of die casting machines and peripheral equipment.
  • Deep understanding of industrial safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in designing, operating and maintaining 6-axis robots, 7th axis tracks, end of arm tooling and their integration within the die casting cell.
  • Specialized knowledge of Temperature Control Units (TCUs) and hot oil systems used in die temperature management.
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), or Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to lead technical teams during equipment design phase, breakdown situations and communicate effectively with leadership regarding equipment status.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for die casting equipment, driving equipment design development, troubleshooting and reduce failures.
  • Lead the maintenance and optimization of the entire die casting cell, including trim presses, ladles, extractors, spray systems, and material handling equipment.
  • Manage the seamless operation of auxiliary equipment, including robots, extractor, spray and temperature control units (TCUs).
  • Develop robust preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) programs to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life cycles.
