Currently, we are seeking a Casting Engineering Intern to join our team at the Decherd Powertrain Facility in Decherd, TN. This internship is designed for individuals who are passionate about engineering and eager to contribute to innovative projects that drive our mission forward. As a Casting Engineering Intern, you will engage in a variety of tasks that are crucial to our operations. Your responsibilities will include conducting process audits, participating in cycle-time reductions, and performing quality-driven statistical analysis. You will also be involved in traceability projects, implementing vision systems, troubleshooting test cells, and mapping defects while recognizing engine processes. Additionally, you will work on automated inspection processes, robotics integration for part transfer, and the design and creation of 3D fixtures using advanced additive manufacturing technologies. Your role will also encompass various digital acceleration projects, including data analysis, monitoring, and reporting. We are looking for candidates who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Chemical Engineering, with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The ideal candidate should be able to function autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, effectively report findings, and provide recommendations for countermeasures. Classroom experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, and Vector CAN tools is essential. An emphasis in machining and forging, along with data analytics or experience with digital acceleration topics, is highly desirable. Familiarity with 3D modeling software and CNC experience would be a plus. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and able to perform work onsite in Decherd, TN.
