Provides assistance to physicians in the application, maintenance and removal of casts, traction, Ilizarov device and other splint or motion device as prescribed. Informs patients / families, staff and students about the use and care of casts, traction and Ilizarov devices; monitors and orders casting and traction supplies and equipment. This position is full time, non exempt, and benefits eligible. Compensation is determined based on experience and department equity.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Orthopedic Technician experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice of an Orthopedic Technician
  • Performs casting, traction and Ilizarov services under the direction and supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon
  • Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic intervention.
  • Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development and optimal patient care
