About the position
This entry-level position is responsible for supporting well installation and drill contractor operations. The role involves performing routine tasks under the supervision of a Drilling Supervisor and assisting more experienced staff with complex tasks. Employees are expected to learn job functions while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Assure drill rigs are supplied with appropriate casing materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Measure casing and deliver cementing equipment and materials to drill rigs.
- Troubleshoot and repair cementers and grouters.
- Top off cased wells.
- Ensure adequate drill water is available.
- Ensure environmental compliance of drilling programs.
- Operate heavy equipment as assigned.
- Document daily activities in logbooks and prepare basic reports.
- Track inventory for drilling or construction material needs and notify supervisor when additional materials are required.
- Identify problem areas in the field and communicate with the supervisor.
- Coordinate field work with other crew members.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills and ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Familiarity with computers or tablets for basic functions.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in various forms.
