The Cashier position involves processing Member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, including verifying, renewing, upgrading, and offering various membership products, scanning merchandise, and accepting different forms of payments. This role requires providing excellent member service efficiently and productively, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the front-line department.

Responsibilities

• Process Member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Verify, renew, upgrade, and offer several types of membership products.
• Scan merchandise and accept various forms of payments.
• Provide excellent member service in an efficient and productive manner.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness of the front-line department.
• Exhibit clear understanding of all BJ’s Membership options, including the importance of renewals and upgrading to BJ’s Loyalty programs.
• Offer all appropriate membership products such as membership renewal, EASY renewal option, BJ’s Loyalty programs and Rewards redemption.
• Check Members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan all club merchandise through a point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and accurate purchase totals for Members.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Collect payments via cash, check, or other charge payments from members.
• Issue receipts or change due to Members.
• Stay up to date on all merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Discount purchases by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the frontline area.
• Assist in general club housekeeping when necessary.
• Return re-sellable merchandise to the sales floor area.
• Manage self-checkout and scan and pan lanes.
• Assist Members with operations and technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
