About The Position

The Cashier position at Westview High is a full-time role responsible for managing cash transactions, maintaining accurate records of meal sales, and providing excellent customer service to students and staff. The role also includes assisting in food preparation and kitchen duties when not engaged in cashiering. This position requires interaction with a diverse student population and adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrated excellent attendance and work record.
• Previous food service and preparation experience preferred.
• Previous cashier and computer experience.
• Ability to apply basic arithmetic calculations using American money and measurements.
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices.
• Skill in customer relations and service recovery.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in English for communication and reading instructions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a school food service environment.
• Knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) procedures.

Responsibilities

• Handle cash transactions and collect money from customers.
• Record daily meal sales on computer and/or roster.
• Assist with the preparation, service, and storage of food.
• Complete required reports accurately and timely.

• Recognize and identify reimbursable meals.
• Support excellent service initiatives in the cafeteria.
• Follow approved cafeteria menu preparation and service protocols.
• Train in all areas within the kitchen to provide coverage as needed.

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and areas.
