About The Position

Are you a friendly, detail-oriented professional who loves creating positive customer experiences? Nelson’s is looking for a reliable, experienced Cashier to join our team. As the first and last person our customers interact with, you play a vital role in ensuring every shopping experience is efficient, professional, and welcoming.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years in a cashier/retail role. Experience in identifying loss prevention/shoplifting signs is highly preferred.
You are dependable, punctual, and have a positive, "people-first" attitude.
Strong math, communication, and time management skills. You are comfortable using electronic registers and point-of-sale systems.
Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift up to 30 lbs independently (up to 40+ lbs with assistance when needed).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be available for afternoon shifts, with mandatory availability on Fridays and Saturdays

Nice To Haves

Experience in identifying loss prevention/shoplifting signs is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly upon arrival and departure, answer questions, resolve complaints, and provide an excellent, positive shopping experience.
Process payments (cash, credit, EBT) accurately, issue receipts/refunds, and maintain a balanced cash drawer at the end of every shift.
Assist with bagging items, light stocking duties, answering phones, taking phone orders, and maintaining a clean, organized checkout area.
Adhere to all safety protocols, help identify potential shoplifting, and report any transaction discrepancies immediately.
