About Alternative Family Services Alternative Family Services is a Foster Family, Adoption and Mental Health Agency that has been serving abused and neglected children in our community since 1973. Our mission is to support vulnerable children and families in need of stability, safety, and well-being in communities. We provide a wide range of foster, adoption, mental health and transition-aged youth services in English and Spanish. We have eight locations throughout the Bay Area and 200 employees. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field that meets educational requirements as required by California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22; or be granted an exception by California Community Care Licensing (CCL)
  • Ability to obtain fingerprint and government required background clearances
  • Ability to work successfully and collaboratively in complex family systems
  • 1-2 years experience working with children and families
  • Proven track record of working successfully with diverse cultural populations
  • This position requires the employee to work out in the community and within foster homes throughout the Bay Area. Thus, position requires employee to possess a valid CA driver’s license and valid automobile insurance with his/her name on the verification card as an insured driver on the policy at all times.
  • Position requires daily access to a car in safe working order.

Responsibilities

  • Train and supervise foster parents
  • Oversee the placement of youth in foster homes through regular visits in homes and meeting individually with the child
  • Develop and update a treatment plan for each child on a quarterly basis
  • Act as a liaison between AFS and other community -based services needed by the foster child
  • Maintain current case notes and other documentation
  • Identify and utilize community resources
  • Crisis intervention and management
  • Be available for emergencies with assigned caseload

  • Pay Range $75,304 - $79,304 (This salary includes a specialized program differential)
  • Additional $3,000 for BBS licensure
  • Additional $2,500 for Bilingual Pay (Spanish Only)
