About The Position

The Caseworker (In-Home Family Specialist) is part of our Family Support Services team at The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh. This team provides a wide array of family support services, including prevention, reunification, and care coordination, all built around the idea of permanency—supporting safe, nurturing, and lasting families while prioritizing the health and safety of the child. This position independently develops and implements service plans to promote safety, well-being, and permanency for all assigned clients. It is a hybrid community-based role that assesses and monitors the safety and wellbeing of children while simultaneously teaching parenting skills and connecting families to community resources to stabilize the home environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or relevant Human Service field required
• Minimum of one year experience working in Child Welfare
• Act 33/34 Clearances
• FBI Clearance
• Valid, current driver's license and personal automobile liability insurance with a minimum of $300,000 combined single limit coverage
• Approval to verify driving history at the time of authorization and annually; approval to verify insurance coverage at the time of authorization and semi-annually
• Reliable automobile with current inspection
• Ability to meet physical and mental requirements of the job

Responsibilities

• Assess client needs using formal and informal evaluations, referral source recommendations, and client preferences
• Develop and implement individual service plans that reflect needs related to parenting skills, relationship building strategies, and community resources
• Provide parent education to clients utilizing the Incredible Years evidence-based curriculum as needed
• Provide formal and informal community resources to clients as indicated
• Transport clients to appointments as needed
• Complete all required programming documentation within electronic health record systems with accuracy and timeliness related to county contractual requirements
• Participate in any county requested activities including meetings and legal proceedings
• Adhere to CPSL protocols related to mandated reporter responsibilities
• Participate in scheduled team and supervision activities
• Provides supportive peer shadowing experiences for new team members
• Complete 40 hours of on-going professional development/training annually
• Willingness to work non-traditional work hours including evenings and weekends to meet client needs
• Achieve 1575 client service delivery hours annually
