This temporary position is located at 307 Ashe Ave, Raleigh, NC 27606 - Wake County, with the Department of Health and Human Services. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). This position locates and provides information and services to potentially eligible, eligible, and underserved children and families with VIB ages 14-21 years of age according to the definitions given in the WIOA/PETS legislation. Employee will work with DSB VR Staff in the implementation and service delivery of pre-employment transition services to qualifying students with visual impairments, blindness, or deaf blindness Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed in the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline relative to the program served from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in an area related to program that provides experience in techniques of casework or counseling; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment.
  • Working knowledge of basic social work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application to specific casework, group work, and community problems.
  • Working knowledge of governmental, non-profit, and private organizations and resources in the community.
  • Skill in motivational interviewing.
  • Skill in record keeping.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and their families, care providers, staff, and various community organizations.
  • Ability to plan and execute work assignments.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and/or volunteers.
