Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Must possess good interviewing skills, must be knowledgeable of local and state resources must have knowledge of appropriate contact guidelines and requirements.
  • Must keep accurate and detailed records.
  • Position requires ability to handle a variety of problems and pressures and must be effectively able to handle stress.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook).
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on floor and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces (hiking) including stairs and steps.
  • Must be able to visually and auditory assess and interact with clients to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Requires considerable work outside of the office and substantial driving.
  • May lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid AZ drivers license, reliable transportation and ability to show proof of registration/insurance.
  • Level One Fingerprint clearance or ability to obtain fingerprint clearance; must maintain clearance.
  • You must be 21 years of age or older to drive on behalf of Catholic Charities.
  • Must have or complete within 90 days of hire, training in CPR and First Aid and remain current in the certification

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Veteran status is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes intake form with clients to determine eligibility.
  • Distributes literature about the SSVF program and available community resources and benefits of the program to eligible veterans.
  • Completes initial eligibility disposition form to determine services.
  • Travels the county to conduct and coordinate participation in street outreach to identify homeless veterans and presents the SSVF Program as an alternative to homelessness.
  • Refers eligible SSVF clients to services identified within the intake process and provide transportation to veterans and their families as needed to provide these services.
  • Makes referrals to other community resources and advocates for veterans and their families as needed.
  • Assesses and evaluates barriers to homeless veterans and their families' utilizing resources and determines steps which can be taken to meet and overcome these barriers.
  • Prepares and maintains an accurate and up to date listing of all known community resources, events, and general information within area.
  • Seeks out new resources as they are established and developed in community.
  • Establishes and maintains good public relations with other veterans agencies.
  • Makes recommendations for strategies to reach those segments of the population which are not utilizing services.
  • Participates in all Stand Down speaking events to bolster awareness of Catholic Charities SSVF program.
  • Maintains a daily activity log and completes files on each enrolled SSVF client as required by contract.
  • Compiles data as required and completes reports as scheduled or assigned.
  • Monitors expenditures of assistance funds.
  • Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
