About The Position

The Case Manager is responsible for the submission of service plans and other assessments required for the compiling of a comprehensive case file with supporting documentation maintained in physical files. Responsible for coordinating case management, safe and timely release services, and ensuring timely completion of ORR case management requirements. The Case Manager will facilitate coordination between all disciplines within the program to ensure timely reunification and safety of youths. The Case Manager demonstrates knowledge of and familiarity with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) policy and procedures relating to the care and supervision of unaccompanied children (UC). This includes knowledge of legal background and authority governing the practice as related to working with unaccompanied children.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Clinical Counseling, Human Services or other relevant behavioral science required.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional degree/course work in related fields desirable.
  • 2 years previous Case Management experience in an ORR setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Within 24 hours of youth’s arrival to program, complete initial intake assessment, provide initial phone calls to family in home country and sponsor, and ensure youth signs acknowledgment and receives a copy of the Legal Service Provider list and Notice to Juvenile Aliens in Federal Facilities Funded by DHS or HHS.
  • Conduct sponsor assessments, home country assessments, and work in guiding sponsor to complete documents, background checks, fingerprint appointments to complete the reunification process in timely manner.
  • Maintain physical and web-based client files, documents, and assessments. File all documents obtained by sponsors in youths file, along with case notes and other assessments conducted.
  • Submit a completed reunification packet with appropriate referral made by Case Manager for the timely release of youth to designated ORR representatives. Prepare the youth for discharge/release by reviewing and amplifying discharge plans.
  • Ensure the timely completion of all assessments including Initial Intake, UAC Assessments, and Individual Service Plans in accordance with CFRC, State, and Federal requirements. Assessments are documented into appropriate web-based systems or other reporting systems as indicated by policy or procedures.
  • Provide weekly face-to-face updates to youth. Ensure the provision of weekly phone calls to approved caregivers, family members, and/or sponsor and documented.
