About The Position

The Link’s Marshall Reed Youth Center is a trauma informed case management and group program for boys 14-18 on probation in Hennepin County. The program’s goal is to appropriately address boy’s needs in the community to prevent further involvement in the juvenile justice system. This full-time position involves direct care and supervision of youth, case management responsibilities, group facilitation and general supporting of youth as they create and work to achieve program and personal goals. The schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday 12:30 - 8:30 p.m. with some flexibility depending on client’s needs.

Requirements

  • Access to reliable transportation and the ability to drive participants
  • Ability to pass a criminal and motor vehicle background check
  • Knowledge of systems navigation within Hennepin County
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Desire to continuously learn for personal and professional growth
  • High level of personal and professional integrity, including ability to protect and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively with and relate to diverse populations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially for client advocacy
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize, coordinate, track and complete multiple tasks as well as adjust to changing priorities
  • Computer application proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include some evening hours
  • 1-2 years equivalent professional experience required
  • Valid Drivers License and reliable vehicle and personal insurance at the levels of $100,000 Bodily Injury/Per Person and $300,000 Bodily Injury/Per Accident.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, sociology or a closely related field preferred
  • Experience working with boys in the juvenile justice system
  • Experience in completing intake and assessments of client needs
  • Experience in creating goal/treatment plans
  • Knowledge of community resources and legal system, particularly in the juvenile justice system

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management services to support gender specific, trauma informed, holistic programing that addresses the needs of boys
  • Create group curriculum and activities focusing on Leadership and Positive Male Identity, Conflict Resolution and Relationships, Health & Wellness,
  • Education and Economic Self-Sufficiency
  • Facilitate groups using Positive Youth Development and Trauma-Informed Care that meets the needs of boys
  • Interview and assess clients to determine barriers, resource needs and other factors related to case planning
  • Connect youth to community resources and activities
  • Support youth in pursuing long-term education and career goals
  • Provide assistance and support to the families of youth in program
  • Provide necessary transportation for clients according to availability
  • Maintains consistent contact with all clients, prioritizing those in need
  • Keep updated records of all interactions with clients and any other contacts made on their behalf.
  • Provide on-going monitoring and reporting of clients’ progress
  • Reports to supervisor with regard to clients’ progress
  • Provide written and verbal updates to referring Probation Officer regarding client’s progress.
  • Preserve the integrity of the programs and agency

  • Maintain positive and healthy relationship with co-workers and other related parties
  • Assist where needed as a team player
