About The Position

As a member of the University Counseling Center (UCC) team, the Case Manager is responsible for the assessment and delivery of mental health services on an outpatient basis to students with varying emotional and psychological concerns. This position also provides consultation, prevention services, crisis intervention and outreach support to faculty, staff and student organizations. In addition to general counselor responsibilities, this position oversees case management needs and care coordination for inpatient psychiatry admissions and discharges.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counseling (LPC)
  • Three or more years of related work experience
  • State of Missouri Certification/Licensure or eligibility to obtain Missouri licensure
  • Training and experience with crisis intervention and case management
  • Training in trauma-informed care and psychotherapy approaches to trauma
  • Experience with, and sensitivity to, diverse populations

Responsibilities

  • Conducts phone, in-person and/or virtual triage, initial consultation, and intake assessment appointments
  • Provides psychotherapy/counseling services for students as individuals, couples, and/or in groups
  • Offers crisis intervention services to students with clinical emergencies
  • Using nationally and internationally recognized diagnostic systems, diagnoses student and develop and implement treatment plans consistent with clinical diagnosis
  • Maintains compliance with mandatory local, state, and federal reporting laws and professional and ethical standards and guidelines
  • Refers students to off-campus clinical services for specialized treatment and/or long-term therapy as appropriate
  • Assists in ensuring smooth transition from crisis intervention to case management; coordinates transition to local hospital psychiatric unit or emergency room
  • Consults and collaborates with counselors, psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, and administrators, including the Dean of Students office to ensure continuity of care for hospitalized students; tracks, monitors and follows up on case management outcomes for disposition planning and management of students with mental health needs
  • Maintains and coordinates updating of community referral database
  • Provides outreach and education about UCC service offerings to staff, faculty, and student organizations
  • Participates in student well-being committees and UCC initiatives
  • Maintains a knowledge of federal, state, and local mental health system and well-being resources
  • Keeps timely, accurate, and ethical records consistent with UCC policy
  • Attends weekly Counseling Center meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned
