About The Position

Boys & Girls Aid in Portland, OR is looking to hire a full-time Family Permanency Specialist. This position serves the Southern Oregon region, including the counties of Douglas, Coos, Curry, Josephine, and Jackson (Districts 6, 7, and 8). The ideal candidate would reside in any of the counties served. As a Family Permanency Specialist, you will use specific recruitment techniques based on each child's individual needs to find loving families for children in foster care who are awaiting permanency. This position requires an effective communicator who can serve internal and external customers in a timely and tactful manner while handling multiple priorities and maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of performed work.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with one year of service, OR a bachelor's degree in relevant field plus 5 years of relevant experience in social work, counseling or psychology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with foster families to effectively place children in permanent loving homes.
  • Partner with Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) to access records and conduct thorough reviews of the child's ODHS case record.
  • Identify relatives, prior foster parents, or others who have been significant in a child's life and may be able to offer the child a permanent home.
  • Review all case materials on the child, including child summary, psychological evaluations, and other materials.
  • Contact the child's caseworker, therapist, and foster parents to obtain updated information.
  • Establish a relationship with the child and the ODHS caseworker to ensure appropriate interventions are provided to prepare the child for adoption.
  • Develop an individualized recruitment plan for each child, along with the ODHS caseworker, based on the child's background and current needs.
