About The Position

English/Spanish (Fluency Required) On-Site Position Reporting to the Lead Case Manager, the Case Aide (Foster Care) is primarily responsible for assisting Case Managers with program documentation, client contact, and foster parent support. This candidate will be primarily responsible for providing transportation to clients, assisting with scheduling appointments for clients, and managing administrative oversight. The Case Aide may also perform case management support services to unaccompanied children (UC) under the care and custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), including but not limited to reuniting the family, ensuring the child's safety, maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of all provided services, and conducting court appearances on assigned cases in accordance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences, human services or social services fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish, required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibit an ability to apply the principles of logic and critical thinking with problem solving.
  • Must have an ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service.
  • Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks.
  • Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions.
  • Evening and occasional weekend availability required, while maintaining a 40-hour workweek
  • Up to 25% travel required including escorting youth to family unifications by car, train and air. Typically requiring same day travel but may, on occasion, involve overnight stays

  • Must be willing and able to clear a criminal background check for the past seven (7) years
  • Must be willing and able to request and clear Child Abuse and Neglect background check in all states lived within previous five (5) years, updated yearly
  • Must be willing and able to obtain FBI fingerprint check every five (5) years
  • Must undergo an enhanced federal background check following hire
  • Must have valid driver's license, MVA check free of major infractions for the last seven (7) years, and proof of adequate insurance coverage in compliance with ORR requirements
  • Must clear a State of Maryland Department of Public Safety and Corrections Services screening
  • Must complete a bi-annual physical exam and TB testing, in accordance with Maryland state licensing requirements
  • Must maintain proof of childhood and annual vaccinations, including: MMR, varicella, Tdap, and influenza
  • Must be CPR, First Aid, and AED certified upon hire or within 60 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Child welfare and/or case management experience is strongly encouraged.
  • Prior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations, strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management support and coordinate community referrals.
  • Assist Case Managers with essential paperwork and documentation.
  • Schedule and prioritize work duties in partnership with supervisor and other team members and in adherence to ORR, state licensing and internal deadlines.
  • Administer case notes and documentation in a timely manner based on guidelines and procedures set forth.
  • Assist Case Managers with providing ongoing education and support services to foster parents.
  • Maintain contact with clients and foster families during a Case Manager's absence to ensure coverage of all program cases.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings with supervisor and/or team to consult on cases, review case plans and direction, and evaluate client participation and progress.
  • Coordinate office, in-home, and/or offsite meetings with foster parents and unaccompanied children on a regular basis according to ORR and state licensing requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on children in care in accordance with ORR and internal documentation standards and reporting requirements.
  • Assist Case Managers in maintaining client contact for case follow-up or intervention, as requested.
  • Translate both written and verbal communication for program clientele and staff.
  • Maintain effective communication with community agencies or individuals involved in service provision.
  • Attend internal and external trainings and apply newly gained knowledge in providing services.
  • Accompany youth to immigration hearings or procedures, as requested.
  • Transport youth to appointments and unifications as needed.
  • Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to service provision.
  • Be engaged in supporting the team and provide suggestions that will strengthen the program.
  • Provide timely, professional and responsive communication with the team and other stakeholders.
  • Attend home visits with the case manager as needed.
  • Be able to work after normal business hours and on weekends as needed.
  • Be flexible and able to take on additional tasks to assist the team.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
